He started looking for a non technical job within the company. Back then
the economy hadn't gone south and things were still pretty good.
Nevertheless no one over at commercial operations was willing to consider
him since he didn't have any experience. He speaks decent English and is
fairly outgoing (for an engineer anyway).
Needless to say he's still an engineer. But at least he did his MBA on the
company's dime so it |

to work in corp finance. I am not saying corp finance is better than
engineering, but he ended up doing something different.
If we have experience, who need MBA. In other words, the reason to get an
MBA is to get a business related job without much experience. Does is make
sense or I am missing something?

各方面的知识补给过程，一个MBA学历不代表任何的商业经验和阅历。
如果你读MBA只是为了转行，full-time是必须的，而且还要冒毕业后重新找工作的风险
。part-time的MBA不是为转行准备的，而是为在本行业内进修提高准备的，据我所知很
多公司是支持和会资助技术型员工读一个part-time的MBA的。
读了一个MBA就能从一个挣钱少的行业跳到挣钱多的行业？有，但为什么是你？你需要
用你的阅历经验说服别人，而不是你的文凭。 |

My current team (corporate treasury) have many ex-engineers; one VP did his part-time MBA in Kellogg, and he only uses 9 years to get promoted to VP position and ranked as top 40 finance leaders under 40-year old last year by a leading finance magazine. He is an Indian, but not a typical agreesive indian, very engineer -type finance professional.
One of my friends from China got in private equity in NYC after his part-time MBA in NYU, and he was a mechanical engineer.

发帖数: 34 | 21 同意楼上说的pt mba也可以改变career。我的一个pt mba的同学，mechanical
engineer, 现在转行做了医药的marketing，看起来根本不着边的。如果在同一行业或
者同一公司里面转business related的工作就更不是问题了。强烈鼓励有兴趣的
engineer们考虑这个方案。不过在职读会很辛苦，尤其是top 的学校。 |

现在不管什么人全去MBA了，从本科到博士，只要下岗了就找这条路。
两年之后，MBA将会严重过剩。
