Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT)
Chinese Academy of Sciences
SIAT is a branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in southern
China, jointly established by CAS and Shenzhen municipal government in 2006.
It engages in comprehensive and multi-disciplinary researches in several
strategic areas, including cloud and high performance computing. In a very
short time, SIAT has positioned itself as an internationally reputable
research and development center in the field. To move the researches to a
new level of excellence, SIAT has recently founded a new research center,
dedicated to cloud computing. The Center for Cloud Computing Research (CCR)
focuses on original research, practical implementation, and standardization
of cloud computing technologies, as well as the development of cloud
services. Led by a Leading Talent of Guangdong province, CCR has established
broad and tight collaboration relationships with key universities, research

The CCR center has multiple positions open. Qualified applicants are
encouraged to apply. The career opportunities include:
Job Title: Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor
Vacancies: Professor (5), Associate Professor (10), Assistant Professor(10)
Responsibilities:
- Develop a funded research program on cloud computing;
- Conduct original research independently;
- Publish high-quality papers on top conferences and journals;
- Supervise graduate students and research assistants.
Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. degree in computer science, computer software, computer system
architecture and equivalent field;
2. Strong background on cloud computing, good publication a plus;
3. Rich experiences and strong ability in system engineering;
4. Be able to work independently, active in learning and self-motivated;
5. Strong responsibility, good communication skill and teamwork spirit;
6. Experiences in team management and graduate student supervision a plus.
Job Title: Research Assistant
Vacancies: 20
Responsibilities:
- Assist research staff to conduct research on cloud computing;
- Develop cloud computing systems and applications;
- Write technical reports.
Qualifications:
1. Master degree or above in computer science, computer software,
computer system architecture and equivalent field;
2. Familiar with distributed and parallel computing, and cloud computing;
3. Strong coding skills;
4. Active in learning, and can assist researchers to conduct innovative
research work;
5. Strong responsibility, good communication skill and teamwork spirit;
6. Proficient in English reading and writing.
Job Title: Software Engineer and Assistant Software Engineer (Back-End)
Vacancies: (10)
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development of back-end cloud computing systems and
platform.
Qualifications:
1. Master degree or above in computer science, computer software,
computer system architecture and equivalent field; Or bachelor degree in
above fields with related working experiences;
2. Extensive coding skills with C, C++, java, Python, proficient in at
least one of them;
3. Knowledge with distributed and parallel programming;
4. Familiar with Linux OS and the developing environment, knowledge with
kernel and virtualization a plus;
5. Active in learning and self-motivated;
6. Strong responsibility, good communication skill and teamwork spirit;
7. Proficient in reading English documents.
Job Title: Software Engineer and Assistant Software Engineer (Front-End)
Vacancies: (5)
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development of front-end cloud computing system and
platform;
- Implement systems and operation processes, In collaboration with back-
end developers.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor degree or above in computer science, computer software,
computer system architecture and equivalent field, with related working
experiences a plus;
2. Familiar with system knowledge and developing environment under Linux
or Windows, familiar with Web programming languages;
3. Knowledge with programming on iPhone or Android devices a plus;
4. Active in learning and self-motivated;
5. Strong responsibility, good communication skill and teamwork spirit;
6. Proficient in reading English documents.
Job Title: Visiting Students
Vacancies: (10)
Qualifications:
1. Proficient in C, C++, java, Python, or Web and front-end programming;
2. Familiar with system knowledge and developing environment under Linux
or Windows;
3. Strong interests in the development of cloud computing systems;
4. Active in learning and self-motivated;
5. Strong responsibility, good communication skill and teamwork spirit;
6. Student majored in computer science, computer software, computer
system architecture and equivalent field are preferred.
Note that to apply the position of visiting student, the applicants are
required to be senior-grade undergraduate or graduate students, finished all
degree courses, and are granted the permit from supervisor. The visiting
period is NOT less than 9 months.
Job Title: Center Officer
Vacancy: 1
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for daily affairs like financial arrangement, human
resources, official affairs, project application, management coordination,
etc.;
- Assist center head with pertinent affairs.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor degree or above, computer science related fields a plus;
2. Good senses on team-working and serving;
3. Good at planning, coordination and cooperation;
4. Strong problem analysis and solving abilities;
5. Strong writing skill, management ability, and social activity ability;
6. Fluent reading and writing English;
7. Proficient in office software like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, knowledge
with Photoshop a plus.
