material and data mining only cover a small part of ML course.

Big Data? BI/Predictive Analytics has been hot for some time now.
On the other hand, AI is probably the slowest area for many decades now.

Data Mining和ML也是紧密联系的,很多data mining的理论和idea都来自machine
learning

后来machine learning的主流走了统计的路子,
而data mining保留原来的味道
还有就是怎么把一些现实情况转化成可计算的data
也就是representation的问题,
可能machine learning的人做得要多些,但是也不尽然
还有,machine learning的人用bayesian statistics的比较多
而在统计学领域里,bayesian和frequentist是有斗争的
