about uiuc and dartmouth, if the size of deparment of
dartmouth is the same of uiuc, which one do you think

aduated from Dartmouth and how many from UIUC. I think no people graduated fro
m Dartmouth, excluding those now in Dartmouth. Well, you may say that UIUC is
too big and thus they generate much more PhDs than Dartmouth. Then try to coun
t the numbers for UMass, Stony Brook, Rutgers, Maryland, Austin, Minnesota...
They are not good in terms of overall ranking, but good in CS.

1) My impression is that Dartmouth's more focused on recruiting fresh professo
rs, instead of those that have already established their reputation in their f
ields. It seems that it is losing its faculty to other high ranking schools. A
s far as I know, it has professors leaving for MIT, UIUC, Columbia despite tha
t it is such a small department.
2) Although UIUC's CS and EE both sit in the top five in popular ranking, I am
more impressed with its EE faculty me
