when everybody gets a phone nexus one, why would they want to have GPS?

everything. Plenty of people will continue to use a basic cellphone +
dashboard GPS unit combination in the foreseeable future.

competition is pushing the profit down too. this is also reflected by
their stock price. but, good news for job seekers.

variety of navigation devices and last fall launched its own navigation-
equipped smart phone called the Nuvifone."
Stand-alone GPS unit will fade away. I guess Garmin will eventually be
bought by some phone service provider (or maybe Qualcomm. :-) ). They
probably know the shrinking market and want to move their R&D to a low-cost
area. |

it makes more sense to buy navteq or tele atlas.
Seems Qualcomm is doing very well, everybody is touting their
snapdragon...:-)
