"If you are on Moon Shadow Surfing Plan. Please don't change your plan right
now. We will make a Mad Moon Shadow available during our transition to the
new system. If you switched already we will find you and you will get the
upgrade via our reward system."

Karl also provided a few more details to the Volunteer Members, and we want
to share those with you. Please understand that this is preliminary
information, based on a short conversation, and is subject to change or
correction. (And some is also my "best guess".)
I know Karl has been working hard to make this possible at all-- and it's
possible that there may be limitations on who may be allowed a "do-over'.
For now, it appears that those who made a complete commitment to the Moon
Shadow Surfing Research program, including activating it & staying with it
until receiving a Discontinued Plan notice will receive a "do-over" option.
How far the 'do-over' option will be extended is not yet clear.
Following is some preliminary info, based on what we know now (and subject
to corrections): There were a couple of paths to start a Moon Shadow plan,
and a large number of possible situations members may be in. We're not sure
how this applies to every situation.
If you did have an active Moon Shadow plan, and have switched away from it
after receiving a notice that the plan was being discontinued, Karl has
informed us that RP will be reaching out to you to provide a path back to
Moon Shadow if you desire.
We do not know at this point what path "reaching out" will take, so please
do not ask right now. We'll update when that info is known.
If you have a reward coupon to move to Moon Shadow, but never chose to use
it, the answer is currently unknown, but the question has already been asked
. Please do not insist on an answer now, because none is available. We'll
update when that info is known.
If you had an active Moon Shadow plan, and voluntarily chose to move to
another plan before the Discontinuation notice, we also do not know if you
will be able to return. This question has been asked, and we'll update when
that info is known.
And some more info:
This may not be an easy transition.
Surfing Data, as we all know, has some issues with unintended throttling.
The project to 'fix' this is still under way. There are likely to be
continued 'growing pains' in the meantime.
It was also routed, in some manner, through the RP servers. Those servers
must be decommissioned. If you choose to remain on Moon Shadow, there will
likely be a period when no data is available as the routing is changed.
Until the current issues are solved with the Surfing data delivery, there
may still be some unintended side-effects, which may include severe
throttling or other unanticipated issues.
Until the Surfing Research program gets back into full operation, there may
be necessary adjustments to either downgrade the data allotment, or to
impose a fixed-speed throttling, or a combination of both. This will be
relaxed once the Surfing Data project is back in full swing-- but that is
likely to take a few months. (2-3 months is a 'best guess" at this point:
it's a current "estimate", not a promise.). Whether the data allotment will
return to exactly the original level is also unknown at this point-- but it
seems fair to guess that it will be quite generous compared to other
current plans.
I'm also guessing there might be a significant reduction in voice minutes (
and sms and mms) involved here in a transition to Mad minutes-- we know
that this is almost always true when providing Mad minutes vs legacy RP-
routed minutes.
The bottom line: we're fortunate that Karl has worked on this to make this
possible! Please look it over carefully as details emerge, and make a fully
informed decision of what you're likely to experience. This is not an
offer to continue on Moon Shadow and opt-out from the Surfing Data Research
program. It's an offer to continue participating in the research program,
with all that this implies--including the possible warts. I hope everyone
is as excited as I am about this option being available! I think Surfing
data has some great implications for RingPlus moving forward, and those
willing to participate in it can be a big part of making it happen! | y****w
