I need some advices from you. I had lived in Chicago for 1.5 years. I had
rent a room from a Korean lady. She had a house and she rent out several
rooms. I have a contract with her and it states clearly that I have to stay
in the room for the first year, and then 2nd year would be month by month. I
paid $350 for deposit.
I moved out the house at the end of January and left Chicago. Before I left
the house, I asked her to check that every thing in the room was fine. I
asked the deposit and she said that she would mail to me later.
Now there are twenty days passed by and I called her several times and she
never returned my phone call. I once used a different phone to call her and
she did pick up the phone and she again promised that she would mail me the
deposit. Again, I did not receive the deposit.
I do have the contract with me and I do keep my paying records when I was
staying at her house. I have a feeling that she might not mail the deposit
to me. Is there any way I could use some legal action to get my deposit? Say
, the small claim court? My situation is that I am not in Chicago any more,
but I do have friends in Chicago to help me.

court（自己去， 不同律师）， 不过你得收集好证据（比如照片）证明搬出去后与搬
进来时打扫的一样， 她可以抵赖说用你的deposit去打扫了（她得提供打扫收据）。
不过上small claim court要花时间精力下去， 你不在chicago， 这么折腾的话， 你
得算算是不是值得花那么多时间精力和金钱下去去要回deposit。 | x*********n

2楼已经有正解了。
搬出后退deposit是要时间的，这个是有条例的，20天不给太正常了，没什么好说的，
说出来只能说你没弄清楚rule乱喷人。
时间到了以后，我记得是30天or45天，再考虑。 | g******4

call. I did, however used an alternate phone to call her, she picked up and
said she would return my deposit, bla bla.
I have decided to sue her through small claim court. Could anyone get me a
link for doing that? This will be my first time to sue some one and I do not
have any experience. Also, could I do through mail? Or I could write a
letter to designate my friend at Chicago to submit the "law suit paper" for
me.
Again, thank for every one's help. I do love Chicago, especially summer time.

丫房子丫也只能全额退款了，用你那鸟语说,it is the law。
最麻烦的是你一搬走，人给你个damage list,那你就得费点口水了，但你现在急个鸟，
做人首先要学会的是：沉得住气。
