District 203 Students Announced as National Merit Semifinalists
59 Students in Running for National Merit Scholarship
（Noth High School又创历史新高！３６个满分！）
On September 12, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced
16,000 Semifinalists in the 60th annual National Merit Scholarship Program,
including 59 Naperville Community Unit School District 203 students.
Naperville Central High School had 23 seniors named as Semifinalists, and
Naperville North had 36. The students now have the opportunity to continue
in the competition for 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth about $33
million that will be offered next spring.
“The hard work and dedication of these 59 students awarded this prestigious
honor is worth celebrating,” said Superintendent Dan Bridges. “It’s
clear these seniors have a passion for learning. I encourage them in their
pursuit of academic excellence, and look forward to their many contributions
to society as alumni of District 203.”
The 36 students from Naperville North are: Paul G. Beckman, Elizabeth Chang,
Annika Dugad, Theo L. Gabriel, Audrey I. Gore, Rachael M. Green, Bradley

About 1.4 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2015
National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2013 Preliminary SAT/
National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an
initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists,
representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the
highest scoring entrants in each state. The number of Semifinalists in a
state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the national total of
graduating seniors.
To become a Finalist, the Semifinalist and his or her high school must
submit a detailed scholarship application, in which they provide information
about the Semifinalist’s academic record, participation in school and
community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and
honors and awards received.
From the approximately 16,000 Semifinalists, about 15,000 are expected to
advance to the Finalist level, and will be announced in February. National
Merit Scholarship winners will be announced April through July of 2015. The
recipients will be among 308,000 other distinguished students.
NMSC is an Evanston-based not-for-profit established in 1955 specifically to
conduct the annual national Merit Scholarship Program. | s*******t

Fifty-three Stevenson High School seniors — the most in school history —
have been selected as semifinalists in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship
Competition, based on their scores on the 2013 PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/
National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test).
Stevenson’s National Merit semifinalists are: Nikhil Arora, Xuanhui Bao,
David Cao, Ashley Chai, Zuyi Chen, Theodore Chou, Yancheng Du, Kathryn
Fatina, Mariana Feingold, Carter Feldman, Jacob Glaser, Shravya Gogula,
Kevin Han, Kyle Hermes, Alex Hong, Michelle Hu, Hansong Huang, Aidan
Jabbarzadeh, Anvesh Jalasutram, Hebin Jeon, Renee Jhu, Jaymo Kang, Manaswi
Kashyap, Diana Kowalski, Arvind Kumar, Phillip Kwon, Christopher Ladan,
Jeremy Lan, Monet Lee, Noelle Lee, Michelle Ling, Sophia Liu, Cindy Luan,

Approximately 16,000 students are semifinalists in the 60th annual National
Merit Scholarship Program. They will compete for some 7,600 National Merit

韩国人，印度人和犹太人比我们中国人教育孩子更狠！比如犹太人是小小年纪就要背他
们的希伯来经文的（从小就练毅力和记忆力）。不听话，孩子是要拉到地下室，关起门
来狠揍得。。。。
２０４一个华人妈妈告诉我说他们家和印度家庭一比，他们家事放养／羊的家庭。而印

hinsdale central 2015也有23个semifinalists。对于illinois学校来说，这个merit
semifinalist和上外州top school比较正相关。203 naperville North 去年college
placement比hinsdale central好也是因为这个。今年stevenson high肯定不错。

加拿大十几年前没有什么好学校的markham，现在华人多了后，把别的学校打的满地找
牙。
华人在读书上就是牛逼。
