标 题: 华人在法律界的榜样 - Denny Chin

今天偶然看到Google Books vs. the Authors Guild的案件判决报道。里面作出判决的
联邦第二巡回上诉法院法官的名字,Denny Chin，引起了俺的注意。马上查了一下，发
现他是第一个在第九联邦巡回上诉法院以外被任命为联邦上诉法院法官的亚裔，主持了
不少著名的案件。如果大家有孩子以后准备攻法律，他应该是个好榜样。

80-20 has a page about increasing Chinese-American judgeship. It's a good
point. |

发帖数: 3942 | 3 2011年奥巴马还提名了另外一个华裔，Goodwin Liu，做第九联邦巡回上诉法院法官，
可惜被共和党杯葛，没有成功。

当时的分析认为，如果Goodwin Liu能顺利成为联邦上诉法院法官，因为年龄和学术资
历的优势，今后很可能被提名为第一位华裔最高法官。我认为这也是当时共和党拼命阻
拦的原因之一。
下面的链接分析了最近历史上总统提名联邦法官的数据。和共和党总统相比，民主党总
统明显更倾向于提名女性和非白人法官。

发帖数: 216 | 5 Prof. Liu has no prior judgeship experience in any levels. Now, his Cali SC
appointment will help him, but he has long way to go to become a SCOTUS
Justice. Most CoA judges had worked either as a DC Judge or a state SC
Justice before being a CoA Judge. Judge Chin has a much better chance than
Prof. Liu (to be a SCOTUS Justice). In terms of next minority SCOTUS Justice
, I keep hearing Judge Jacqueline Nguyen's name (9th Circuit) mentioned. |
