can just bike there. But this will
be before the race day and I intend to save my legs.:) So the question is,
should I bring the bike by a car, or
by the train? I suppose a bike rack would be necessary if I go by car? |

Assuming they are Quick release wheels, it is not a big effort to take them off and put back on

you rent. Buying bike rack can wait till you know what kind of rack you need
and what car you will install it on.

bike may have problem of fitting.
You should have minipump with you all the time (just like water bottle you
can fix it on your bike)

totally flat tire. CO2 will do the job much easier.

发帖数: 12977 | 12 You need a minipump, I bought a very good minipump that can pump up to 95%
of what a floor pump can
Mostly you need it because CO2 may run out if you are not lucky, and also
sometime you want to pump a little and then flat in order to get the twisted
inner tube straight (you can do this by turn off the CO2, but once it is used, you will have much less pressure left)

the video I suspect that it would
take me a long time to do it the first time. How can I get practice on this?
I don't want to take out a perfectly
good tube from my tire as I may unknowingly damage it in the process and get
in trouble later.

My bike got a flat tire only after at least 400 miles of riding.
The reason of flat tire is when your tires (especially rear) worn out and
becomes less protective you hit something sharp on the road.
My experience is when you have your first flat tire, then it will become
more frequent until you have to change your tire entirely.
For a short race, you don't have to practice it unless you have to.

SAC, you have to insert tremendous amount of effort in installation, and it
is very easy to damage the inner tube in the process

which includes: a saddle bag, a spare tube, a pump (doesn't have to be a
mini pump, the kind that straps on the top tube would work just fine), a
patch kit, three tire levers, and a multi-purpose tool (the kind that looks
like a swiss army knife).
Then, while you're at still the shop, ask the shop folks to teach you how to
(1) take off your rear wheel (pay attention to how to fit the cassette back
onto the chain); and (2 |
