2. Don't over spin. If you want to make one turn, do a 3/4 turn.
Per your problem, I think you should work on #1 more.
In my opinion, spotting is over-rated for beginners. It can make already
difficult moves (a spin in this case) even more complicated. You need #1 and
#2 anyway.

I think in some sense, spotting mainly serves as a way to help your #1 point
of standing straight, since when spotting you will have to keep your head
up straight too
