in promenade run, when we are in side by side position
(3rd step in each bar)
what should the distance between us be like?
we tried to hold some good presentation of the connected arms
but if we have our arms somewhat extended, namely i place my hand
on his should and he place his hand on my shoulder blade, elbows slightly

according to our local news paper
they were former soviet union champion, though dunno which category
they won 2003/2002? us professional ten-dance champion
she's a very nice person
i guess russian way of teaching is greatly different from the american way
at first she's all american, nice and sweet
but now she starts to be more and more strict
scolding, laughing, mocking my ugly movement, but in a good way
it's like everything else, you can only f

we used to use this QQS timing
but she specifically said it's not QQS
we stopped for too long at the 3rd step
i trust both of you 100%, seems i need to ask mathew cuttler
next time i take a hold of him. and of course hope he
won't say it's SQQ or 1a2 ):

i take criticism very well... haha, used to it
our group lesson coach never say bad things about our dancing
he always approaches from the positive side
for example when our postures are bad, he won't say so
he'll just give us posture exercises and tell us pull up the sides
but, i often miss his point
now i know him better, whenever he asks something from us,
i know we did the opposite, and it was ugly
Polina, our Belarusian coach, is very straight forward. she'll just

living
for the futrue, or have to do sth, so, why not positive?
if i am kid, i need to dance for my living , then critique me but what if not

from the big picture, it's a RUN, i believe what's most important for this
figure is to have a good momentum, fluid movement, and good/interesting shape
( change from close postion to pp, to close, to cpp again ). So I guess that's
the reason our coach want us to think the rthym more a "123" instead of "qqs"
, she don't want to see a slow down/lost of momentum at the third step.

forget the big picture. it is very easy to forget when you are so into the
technical details. remember, in the end, whoever looks the best wins, not
whoever knows the most techniques. i've seen dancers who have good techniques,
but somehow just don't look good.
and it is run. you have to go for it.
in order to really travel, here are a few points for you to consider:

I see you point, it's consistantly with the technique book, which ask you to
turn to right 1/8 for the second step ( side step ) at PP position, and no
turn forward for the third step.
and when you are saying have a straight back leg at count 2, you mean the
music count two, ie: the third step, right?

as for the technique books, i've never read any of them. everything i say here
is all from my learning and dancing. so sometimes it may not conform with the
technique books. however, please keep in mind that there are indeed many ways
to do one thing, and the important thing is that you make it look good.
