Title : Statistical Programmer
Duration : 3 - 6 months
Location : Houston, TX 77002
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Help evaluate client's current environment and work with project t
eam to develop the plan to improve their use of analytics as well as move aw
ay from SAS to R
· Work with client research team to migrate logistic scoring model f
rom SAS to R. This includes data transformation, scoring and notification pr
ocesses.
· Develop or migrate code to identify key drivers of model to serve
as input to customer retention process.
· Review OSS text mining software for refining web log and chat data
for use in statistical analysis. Be able to make strong quantifiable recomm
endation of software recommendation.
· Implement and use OSS text mining software to examine web log and
chat data for use in additional modeling effort
· Review OSS revision control software for use in developing model a
rchival process. Be able to make strong quantifiable recommendation of softw
are recommendation.
· Work with analysis team to design and develop process for collecti
ng model building components and archiving/retrieving models for later use/c
omparison using OSS software. This may include implementation of OSS softwar
e.
MANDATORY SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
· Master’s degree required in one of following areas: Statistics, M
athematics, Computer Science Economics or Quantitative Psychology/Sociology
- with course studies or school project work in R statistical analysis
· Some hands-on experience using R for multivariate regression (GLM,
Logistic, Mixed models, etc)
· Some R text mining experience (even if in school)
· 1 year or more of work experience programming in JAVA
· Exposure to/ Understanding of HADOOP components/concepts (particul
arly MapReduce & Hive)
DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
· Mahout a very strong plus
· Python and/or UNIX scripting experience is a plus
· More than 1 year work experience doing R text mining is a very str
ong plus
· SAS experience a plus
· Any experience working with HBase in a Hadoop environment is a plu
s
· General familiarity with evaluating Open Source Software (OSS) is
a plus |
