On job market, since when HP research lab start hiring people on a
massive level? I know they hired the famous comrade X, but that is
pretty much it...
On industrial level, even IBM and Intel are reluctant to invest money
on Silicon photonics, I donot think HP will change anything...
But I have to agree that, as an industrial research lab, HP is doing
really well. They are even working on quantum optics...

lent sells Avago.
This optical interconnect news however, is based on a very recent strategic
goal of HP on the company level, which targets large volume products.
