基于FPGA 或 DSP的，可以买来直接用，或者稍作修改，主要用于测试算法或者教学之

I noticed there are two kinds of Virtex-5 FPGA board that can be used for
communication system and DSP, Virtex-5 SXT and FXT, what is the difference?

它只是把DSP的部分软件化了

Speed Serdes tranceiver blocks/IOs + On board support. Make sure the speed
rating and IOs of the FPGA meets your requirement.
You might not need the FXT, I think for Baseband DSP (matlab algorithm
prototyping, the SXT kit would be more than enough). Honestly, don't get
some obscure and cheaper dev kits which is so complicated or support lacking
that it would require the same amount of effort to get the platform working

trouble.
Our lab has a set of Virtex-5 LXT FPGA ML505 Evaluation Platform, which was
bought two years ago and never used. Is it suitable for Baseband DSP design?
Another question is that beside baseband DSP, I also need to realize basic
control plan functions for control signal processing and realize basic L-2
radio resource control and MAC, does this board support this requirement?
It seems I also need CPU in the board

For DSP: If you are doing your custom filters, mixers, tone trackers,
Fourier transform type of hardware which needs accum and complex multipliers
, then the DSP native cores in VX-5 would help, and all devices supports it:
For Command and Control + L2 STACK and Firmware: Embedded PowerPC core is
only available in FXT, not in LXT.

最后决定还是采用DSP+ARM的方案，DSP上做PHY的信号处理，ARM上做L2/RLC/RRC，这样
把以前的一些开发经验可以用上。
现在有个新问题是，GNU Radio能否移植到TI的DSP上，这样可以利用许多Open Source
资源，而我所知是GNURadio一般运行于PC平台，似乎没有在DSP上运行的，是这样么？
