Co-op Algorithm Engineer (150035)
Xilinx is the world's leading provider of All Programmable FPGAs, SoCs and
3D ICs. These industry-leading devices are coupled with a next-generation
design environment and IP to serve a broad range of customer needs, from
programmable logic to programmable systems integration. Our All Programmable
devices underpin today's most advanced electronics. Among the broad range
of end markets we serve are:
• Aerospace/Defense • Automotive
• Broadcast • Consumer
• High Performance Computing • Industrial / Scientific
/ Medical (ISM)
• Wired • Wireless
This co-op project is on implementing and validating optimization algorithms
using numerical methods. You will work with a technical mentor to implement
algorithms in the areas of digital signal processing and non-linear
optimization. Analysis of the implementation in terms of performance, power
consumption, costs, and recommendations for future work will be part of a
technical report due at the end of the co-op project.
Education Requirements
Masters or Ph.D. candidates in computer science, electrical engineering,
applied mathematics, or physics
Qualifications
This position requires experience in algorithm development and
implementation. A solid foundation in digital signal processing, numerical
methods, combinatorics, and logic design is a must. The ability to gain new
knowledge on-the-fly to solve problems is just as critical. The successful
candidate can state problems mathematically, and analyze how algorithmic
choices impact product performance, ease-of-use, power, and area. Practical
skills such as writing maintainable code and verifying code in object-
oriented languages and hardware description languages (Verilog or VHDL) are
required. Signal-processing algorithm development with Matlab, Octave,
Python, R, or Mathematica is a must. To evaluate solutions quantitatively,
experience with Xilinx Vivado Design Suite and Vivado HLS is necessary. This
position requires communicating novel technical solutions at different
levels of details. Writing readable technical documents and presenting
results analytically are a key part of the job. Candidates with published
papers and prior research experience in an M.S. or a Ph.D. program are
preferred.
