NO, unless you are from a top econ program.
As I know, in our university, the
phd in finance and phd in economics share almost the same course.
It is true for most schools. It does not speak anything.
Also, do u think it is helpful for a phd in financial economics to get a job
if he takes CFA?
NO, unless you apply for an industry job.
The market is efficient, so is job market. |

What do you mean by "qualification exam is CFA2?" they are totally different
. Qualification exam tests your econometrics/math/stat knowledge; while CFA
2 is all about accounting/equity valuation.

as qualifying exams? Don't they learn asset pricing and corporate
finance?
