转成research associate相当于降级了，会对以后找faculty position有影响，不能被

research associate and postdoc is that research associate can have
retirement benefit, but posdoc doesn't.
For AP application, no difference between research associate and postdoc.
As for EB1B, it's really dependent on your school's policy (ask
international center). Usually most schools support research associate to
apply EB1B after 3-years of hire.

universities. At Stanford, postdocs can only apply for J-1 visas, while
research associates get H-1Bs. Research associates also get paid more. In
terms of responsibility, research associates usually have to work on
specific projects, while postdocs have more flexibility in conducting their
own research. |
