，可以9个月或者12个月（全年工资一样），faculty job 是从明年7月开始。
1, 我是不是应该选择9个月postdoc？如果选择12个月，那么postdoc 的appointment
和faculty 的appointment 有overlapping。具体工作上没有冲突，因为那个postdoc
就是自己独立做研究，暑假里估计不去学校也没事。但是工资、税务上会不会有问题？
2, faculty job 虽说从7 月开始，是不是暑假里并不发工资，工资从开学后开始发？

you need pay yourself with your startup or grants. If you are on on H1-B,
you can't have two jobs in the same time, and you can't have gap between two
jobs.
Starting date of a faculty job is always flexible as long as it is before
the class begin. If you don't teach in the first semester, you can start
anytime as you like. Postdoc appointment can be terminated early or extend
for a couple month if your boss is a reasona |

don't know if opt allows to "work full time" on two jobs. Why can't you
terminate the postdoc a couple days earlier or delay the start? The reality
is you can't work full time on two jobs, and you shouldn't get paid with two
salary. |

发帖数: 75 | 6 h1b 开始的时候opt 就自动结束了。我的问题是这样，我可以把h1b (faculty job) 安
排到从8月下旬开学的时候开始（不能比这个还晚了），postdoc 那份工作要么是9个月
，要么12个月。现在是12个月，明年8月底结束，当然我人可以在8月底之前走，不用在
postdoc 学校里呆到8月底，但是工资他们肯定还是8月底发。这个不就有overlap 了吗？

you will get less salary because you didn't work for the full month. |
