purpose for this, since it is only 30 mins?

As for your question, what I did is: just confirm the time and who
should
call who.
What the interviewer did in my case is asking the following questions:
1) Are you still available?
2) introduce the position: it is more about teaching than doing research
3) what classes have I taught before?
4) what questions do you have? (I asked 4 questions)
It took about 15 minutes. They said 30 minutes. It is not necessary
being that long

own. Maybe your LD is of the same personality.
LD already replied to confirm the time, but did not check who call who.
According to the email, they want to "find out more about your research and
teaching goals, and how you might fit within the department". Does that mean
they have doubts about her qualifications?

发帖数: 238 | 5 I think they have several candidates qualified for the opening. but they
want to pick several (e.g. three) that match what they need for the on-
site. Your LD's background should be impressive to them.
They just want to know what kinds of research you are going to pursue
(some of they are too busy to read your LD's research statement), what
kinds of courses you could teach.
Please check the AD of the opening for detail. And then you could see
what kind of people they are looking for. And then check some courses
from their website.
The questions I asked:
1) how many Ph.D. students are there in your department?
2) I have the background of **. Do you have any courses that I could
teach?
3) How many course do I need to teach?
4) What is the balance of teaching and writing grants?
Make up some potential questions and prepare the corresponding answers.
Practice several times.
