一个会议的panel，一整天
由一个moderator主持，四个panelist,然后上午是broad discussion
我需要做介绍，同时给个大方向的talk，四个panelists(本方向越牛的越好）加入，各
自给talk
然后下午会有几个paper sessions
请教版上有经验的前辈，这个moderator的定位是什么？主持人？有什么要注意的么？
panelists需要是big names，都比我出名多了，怎么协调？

发帖数: 242 | 3 You don't really have to do too much as a moderator or chair but behave as a
policeman to keep things in order, such as order of talks, keeping the time
, etc
In your talk, you will need to prepare several slides (one or two slides are
normally sufficient) as an overview for today’s topics and scope. You need
to know what those guys are going to talk about. However, this is going to
be VERY brief because you are talking in front of experts and you don’t
want to get in troubles with the details.
For the broad discussion, it will be a little challenge. A better session
will need to be under the control. You will need to come up an overall scope
of discussion, summary of each topic before transition to others and a
brief summary of important points/highlights. It happens sometime that the
discussion is out of control (getting into lengthy arguments, out of scope
etc). It is your job to get the session back to the track. There is no way
to prepare for these situations but you should sense these "dangers" and
find some ways to cool things down, such as have a "right" joke, look at a
clock saying “we are running out time” etc.
It is a good experience to chair a panel with a couple of guys who are big
names in the field because this is a very good way to know each other.
However don’t be shy to express yourself. You are invited to be a moderator
and you are somebody already, right?
