My carrer plan is to be a faculty. If I get postdoc offers from a top 20
university and a national lab, which one is better for my career? | f**********e

, group activity (publication) of your future postdoc advisor will be the
most important factors to be considered. I know quite a few persons go to
academia after postdoc in national lab or company research lab.
The good thing of national lab is the pay is quite decent.

发帖数: 1367 | 3 以我当年几个labmate的经历，想混学术圈，当faculty，最好还是去top top
university, 不要去national lab，因为national lab做的东西介于 academic 和
commercial 之间，可以说是两头不讨好。如果你打算在national lab里当个permant
staff, 那没问题，而且最好是去那些大型的 user facility,不用担心funding.

If you want to be a scientist, choose postdoc in national labs.
The critical part is that you will interact with different set of people
during your postdoc which determines where you can find the job afterwards.
If you choose wrong, it will be very difficult to change back.
