发帖数: 91 | 1 今天第一个电话面试，是一个以本科生为主的化学系职位。小系，系主任打的电话。
问了下面的问题：
1. why are you interested in working at xx college?
2. A series of questions about courses:
- Which courses are you most excited to teach?
- which courses would be a stretch for you to teach?
- which coursed do you think you are disqualified to teach?
3. If you have an opportunity to create new courses, what would you teach?
4. We have courses for non-majors. Which ones would you like to teach? Do
you have ideas about new courses for non-majors?
5. Role play: I am a freshman with no lab experience, and I just come into
your office to tell you that I am interested in your work and would like to
know more or work in your lab.
6. Which major equipments are you looking to get? Are there particular major
equipments that will be deal breakers for you?
Explained time line of the hiring process，说是可能到年底做最后决定。 When I
told them I have an upcoming on campus interview this week, the chair said
they will probably start scheduling on-campus next week for early november
interview.
10 minutes for: Do you have questions for me?
I asked about the courses they are looking for the new hire to teach and the
courses most in need of instructors. How many students are interested in
biochemistry? Collaboration among the chemistry and biology faculty members.
Summer research support and summer student research programs. Whether
they will help new faculty members to recruit students to the labs.
自我感觉： 除了那个role play, 我就算那些问题都准备过了。表示听不太出来chair
对我得满意度。倒是说了一些他们会如何帮助新的faculty之类的话，他们的package多
么好，将来会有机会更细节的讨论startup package之类的话。还有我在说给non-major
新课的时候，提到了一个chemistry in cooking的idea, 他表示很激动。 俺很紧张啊
，所以没有按照俺的老板语重心长地给我的指示说话要慢和清楚。自我感觉说话还是有
点快，而且role play的时候有一点说得长了。
星期三去另外一所类似的学校on campus, 大家多祝福我一下吧，狠狠狠需要啊。 谢谢

notice before the phone interview, or they just called you without a
schedule ( I am really concerned about this situation)? | p********e

发帖数: 91 | 6 The department secretary called me to schedule the phone interview. I had
the choice of having the phone interview the day after, two days after, or
the Monday after. (I got the first call on a Wednesday). I chose the
Monday.
My reason is that I had to go to a meeting from Thursday to Sunday (which is
real), but I was little worried if this gave them a bad impression. But I
am grateful that I had time to prepare.
