校了吧。。）。1.2一般就认为是top 50%了。Phase 3算是学生里的top 30%了。完成
Phase 4.2的学生可以找到top 50的faculty（其实有了4基本5就不是问题）。Phase 6
的学生如果运气好，可以找到top 10的faculty了。 |

重要的问题需要回答。后后续关键问题的解决能不能值诺奖很难预测，但至少会比很多
院士的工作意义更大。

接着老李的总结说说“如何让学生达到这几个境界”的看法。这个只是个人看法，感觉
适用于资质不错、没有经验但是为人踏实、勤奋好学的学生。
STEP1. 先给学生一个自己完全可以掌握的课题，给出一个解决问题的方法让学生去实
现。就算不做实验，自己对实验结果也可以猜的七七八八。这样的课题就算做出来应该
也没有特别大影响力，但是这样一是方便指导学生，纠正学生在科研中的错误和不好的
习惯，让其了解什么是科研；二是树立自己在学生中的学术威信（这点不是为了炫耀自
己的能力，而是让学生觉得自己是有依靠的、不是孤独的一个人前行，以后遇到困难也
敢于面对，反正后面还有个“大牛”老板不是么）。为期半年吧。
STEP2. 给学生一个自己了解背景定义明确但是具体细节不是很清楚的课题（最好和第
一个问题有相关性），让学生自己去挖掘。这个时候仍然是老师给课题，但是老师已经
不需要非常了解技术细节，留给学生去挖掘。这个时候学生需要阅读大料论文，利用学
到的方法来解决这个问题。这个当中老师积极参与与学生的讨论，提出指导意见。为期
1年。
STEP3. 给学生一个相关问题的需求，列出来几个可能的方向，让学生自己去解决。方
向由学生自己选，老师只是给予指导和意见。这个过程中学生可能发现读文章经没有什
么用或者需要的论文已经看不懂了，需要去再多修1-2门相关的课。为期1-2年。（这里
有美国的课程制度不合理的地方：学生甚至老师都不知道修哪些课会对学生以后科研有
用，但是所有的课程又要前两年修完，学到的都是知其然而不知其所以然。浪费了不少
修课的时间。）
STEP4. 问学生有哪些新方向可以做，业内业外有谁做的比较相关，他们的不足是什么
，你打算怎么做。如果学生回答的不错，就可以考虑让他准备一个proposal，同时让他
准备毕业找工作。
PS1：遇到资质好的学生1-3步只要两年就可以走完，所以PHD3年毕业是完全有可能的。
如果那个学生真的资质很好，并且他有愿意去学术界，可以在中间穿插另外一个课题让
他同时做。我发现学生同时做两个课题的效率会变高，所以时间大概就是多个50%左右
，差不多5年毕业吧。如果有个低年级学生给他带会效果更好。
PS2：这个观点出自理工科，其他学科例如生物什么估计不适用。而且这样培养学生的
方式对老师要求其实挺高的，很花时间。不过学生的培养计划本身也应该是一个高质量
的proposal，执行起来比做纯科研还更有意思。

在生活中到目前为止遇到任何问题基本都能identify problem，然后直接或找人解决
problem,不知道用到research能不能达到这种境界。以前读博士的情况是，别人有需求
，然后我们解决，还真没有自己去找过problem。

，可是哪一个最重要我们有能力做同时又值得我们花时间呢？不是每一个重要问题自己
都能做出独特的贡献。就像找朋友，合适的时间合适的地点让自己碰到一个灵魂伴侣比

不好意思，上面瞎掰掰，我很喜欢科幻，老是有点不接地气。。。还没有identify过大
的问题，不知道自己有没有那本事。
