1. 在临走前和chair见最后一次的时候，他说我 very competitive，然后问了一下我
是喜欢他们这样的生物系还是医学院，最后还说我可以回去想想equipment list 和
dream equipment list 。后面一个是啥？买点贵的吗？
当然，对方也没说死，说下一周上会讨论一下，然后再和dean做决定。
这个能说明，我是top candidate吗？此外，一个细节是临走时我说 see you profess
xxx，他说叫我 yyy ，算是他的昵称。
2. 关于这个list，需要详细到什么程度？除开大型仪器之外，连移液器，耗材啥的需
要列进去吗？如果想雇一个lab manager，人员费用也要列进去吗？需要列几年的？
哪位老师有个普通生物化学实验室模板可以供小弟参考一下？
谢谢。学校不大，但是系里和院里的支持挺好的，research上隐形的benefit很多。希

congrats, it is a good indication that they have moved forward with your
application - unless you ask for a huge number that is much higher than
their approved budget, you will likely get an offer.
the dream equipment list is basically the upper limit of your equipment
budget. try to be realistic, ask former colleagues and get an idea what was
the typical start-up package and give a reasonable estimate.
for 2, it does not have to be detailed but you need to at least give the
type/name/(model if possible) of the equipment you want to buy and a
ballpark estimate on the cost. it does not hurt to be detailed, but what
matters is the total amount.
no, you can't list salary support in the equipment budget, but it can be
requested in the discretionary start-up budget. typically you can't request
support for 1-2 years, because they expect you to get new funding to support
your personnel. likely, you will either get support for a couple of
students, or a single lab manager, but probably not both, it will be your
choice.
