this afternoon, RI, pier. tried to find flukes,
nothing but scups and snappers, old man next to
me pointed to the water down the pier and yelled
"big fish". Under the sun, 2 feet down, it looked like
a huge scup. Old guy complaining about it getting hooked
and got away. Two casts later, I got it. I knew it wasn't
a scup from the way it fights. No tapping, strong and straight
draw. it's a 14" trigger fish! hard to see one of those
around here. Must be the tropical storms.

fluke hook. pay attention to the dorsal fin
right above its eyes. You can see two poles, the front pole
is locked when the fin goes up. You have to move the second
pole to get it down, thus the name triggerfish. It has devilish
teeth, when I put it on the ground, it kept clenching them and
made that clicking
sound. If you dive in the reef, this the sound you hear
all day. The gill is two finger-sized holes. It has that

newport, absolutely no fluke, when they don't run, they don't run.
before long, they're gonna retreat to deep water and left us with
less flavored stripers and blackfish. such is inshore fishing. | l*********n

I had luck with Saknonnet fishing boats in the morning, around 10:00. They're
the best. Better than most of my own catch, I don't use a cooler, most of my
fish are at least 20 min dead in the hot air when I gut them. I alway smell
the guts and I can always smell "it" in the fish from the supermarket and even
my own catch. But the fish from the dock, I can't smell "it" at all. I
suggest you guys do the same with the fish you buy, yeah, it's disgusting, but

在Sakonnet钓到FLUKE了吗? 那今年无数的小SCUP, 够SIZE的太少. 今年去的次数少, 最
大的意外就是上周钓fluke时, 钓上的32" striper.
FW park 的钓点能不能介绍一下. 我只是听一老头告诉我pier那是沙底, fluke比较多.
初了FLUKE, 那还能钓什么? 钓点在哪?

发帖数: 6 | 6 On FW park pier, keep fishing in the left corner, plenty of scups and flukes,
don't cast too far towards the rocks, stay on the sandy part. You might have
to trespass private property to get to the rocky spots where bass and blues
are good, and they're not that good anyway.
went to newport yesterday afternoon, got one 18"- barely legal fluke, scups,
skates, and a seagull. The bird was a real jerk, it had been walking around
stealing baits since I got there, and finally one foot got tangled in my

我去年去newport, bait shop说的很象回事. 南端的park岩石底钓SCUP和SEABASS. 西边
的小的PARK(可能就是你说的FW对面的)沙底钓FLUKE. 我还带个新手去, 结果什么也没有.
西边的小PARK, 一样是岩石底, 挂钩.
你具体在哪钓的? 一共钓了几只FLUKE.

发帖数: 6 | 8 I was in Ford Adams. It is right across Ford Weatherhill. The bottom is sandy
and hold flukes. But it is still hard to get a keeper fluke from shore. Last
Saturday I got that one and only fluke after 2 hours of scups and skates
action, and left right away. Some Combodian fishermen around me got several
baby flukes on their scup hooks, and kept them anyway.
I might take a friend there this Saturday again. Forget about the catch, the
place is a charm, with newport bridge on the horizon, ancient ba
