The temperature came back to the upper 40s yesterday, then fell back to the
upper 20s this morning. Woke up around 6:00 am, thought of going fishing but
was afraid of the coldness. Eventually made up my mind around 7:00 am, put
on more layers, drove to the river bank and parked the car at a deserted lot
next to a local rail track.
No one was seen initially, then another person showed up later on the other
side of the river bank.
Found an area just downstream to a protruding rock pile and close to the
main channel with slow water movement. Used a 1/4 jig head with a tube, cast
out about 20-30 feet and reeled back slowly. On the third cast, felt a bite
, set the hook and retrieve back quickly. The fight was not fierce and I
thought it was a buffalo. To my surprise, it turned out to be a huge walleye
about 28 inches. The landing was not difficult at all though.
Felt so good, I kept casting. Landed several small drums and buffaloes but
no more walleye. At one point, I hooked up a big Muskie estimated about 35-
40 inches. It jumped a couple of times high up in the air like a tarpon. Its
golden mist color was bright and beautiful on the background of the clear
river water. Unfortunately, it shook the hook off when I was trying to pull
it to the shore.
It was so cold, the line got stocked on the ice around the guide frequently,
and my hands turned red and was burning. I did not bring my gloves with me,
thus I pulled the sleeves to cover my fingers. That provided some relieve
but not enough. I decided to quit after a hour.
I was in a very good mood until I returned to my car. A parking ticket was
on the driver side window. I was fined for $15.00 due to parking on a
private property.

to see if I could apply for a Master Angler Award, but decided not to. I do
not have a scale at home, so the exact weight is unknown.
My next purchase is going to be a good pair of fishing gloves.

现在还记忆犹新
你这条跑掉的MUSKI也应该会映像很久，呵呵 |
