发帖数: 5200 | 1 this neighbor of mine is having a bit problem with his wireless internet and
asking me for help.
his problem is that his wireless network disconnects every 6-10 hours. it
does come back by itself in a few hours, if left alone. restarting wireless
router does bring wireless network back, too. in both cases, disconnections
happen again at the roughly the same frequency.
the weird thing is that when his wireless network disappears, his computer's
firefox cannot browse webpage, ping cannot get any echo, but his qq has
connection and he can chat on qq. even stranger is that one time he was
streaming video when his wireless network disappeared, the streaming
continued to work in a firefox window even though in a new firefox window he
couldn't connect to any website. the same thing happens with his iPhone. he
can play qq games or chat on qq, but cannot browse any website.
when it comes to wirless router, i know nothing beyond plug-and-play. so i'm
hoping someone here might help me out here.
or maybe buying a new router is the easiest solution? |

查查能刷 tomato ddwrt 固件的话可以试试刷了看看

'll take a look tomorrow and see if changing a new fireware will do any
good. If not, then I'll suggest him buying a new one.

我也算在无线通信这一行搞研发的。不是家用级别的产品，是提供给AT&T、Verizon
这些巨头的百万刀以上的设备，号称多少个9的可靠性，但自己深知里面的bug数不
胜数。更绝的时候，看着是软件问题，其实是硬件。有一次，某台机上面的某块卡，
软件隔一阵就crash一次，怎么解释都不通。花了无穷时间，从core dump里面一个
字节一个字节看，终于顺藤摸瓜找到硬件问题：memory 的某个字节的某个 bit 有
flop，写的是1，读出来是0。
这种一块卡百万刀的东西，都不一定值得去 debug (有时我们就直接建议换卡)；几
十刀的小路由，还是扔了吧。 |

发帖数: 16949 | 7 如果每次都是隔差不多同样的时间出问题，很可能是firmware的bug。不然可能用了一
段时间太热。
网站上不了但有的连接还行那可能是DNS出问题，域名没法解释。但已经建立的连接没
有问题。 |
