The team released the fifth-year pro Tuesday, days after he missed an extra
point for the fourth time this season.
Walsh missed two field goals in the opening game of the season and added two
other misses on the year. He famously botched a game-winning 27-yard field
goal in a wild-card game in last year's playoffs, drawing the ire of the fan
base.
Minnesota conducted a search for a replacement ahead of last week's game as
they worked out six other kickers, but they elected to keep Walsh. He then
missed an extra point in Minnesota's 26-20 loss to the Washington Redskins.
The Vikings are expected to sign free-agent kicker Kai Forbath, who worked
out for the club last week, as Walsh's replacement, a source told Tom
