现在在修课，什么都学，structure，GIS，也还没有大概的方向。
听说GIS好找工作？一般多少一年啊？其实我还满想继续读个phd的，反正我一个女生，
也不着急养家糊口。
很想听听大家对geology这个学科的看法啊。我也是刚入行，啥也不懂。 |

我想GIS的PhD不要读了。一个是觉得学术对女生太苦，另外一个是觉得GIS的学术性不够
强，几年时间太浪费了。

soil, transportation, etc.

不过找工作倒不在乎这个，如果你们学校有GIS certificate，就去拿一个，如果没
有就多修gis方面的课，把esri的一套东西弄熟，工作还是找的到的

If earthquake, not many jobs out there.
But if you are in exploration geophysics, plenty of opportunities right now.
I work for big oil. I have never seen this. There are so many fresh
graduates, phds or not, got hired this year. The total number of new
graduates (phds) get hired is probably larger than the sum of the past 5-6
years that I worked for this company. I do not know the future though.
Oil companies cannot get good candidates this year, so they hire fresh

to get a job this year. You have to go to Houston though. |
