标 题: NC State U和U Maryland如何选择？

代友发文，正在申请今年秋季的PhD，园艺专业，目前收到了NC State和U Maryland at
College Park的offer，不知道该怎么选择，上来请教一下大家。
NC State的专业方向比较喜欢，老板也比较牛，但是奖学金给得比较少，低于该校的平
均水平，好像地方也农村点，据说一般3.5年就能PhD毕业；U Maryland老板也很牛，是
东部几个州的这个方向leader，方向有点偏，听说对学生非常严格，他的学生据说要6
年才能毕业，奖学金给得多点，大概比NC State多3k，地方当然比NC State好很多，但
是相应的，物价水平也高很多。个人倾向与将来做faculty，实在不知道该如何选择，
毕竟PhD的方向几乎会决定今后大半生的前景，所以请前辈们给点建议吧，下周一就必
须要作出决定了，谢谢 |

发帖数: 20 | 2 I went to both Universities. U of Maryland definitely has a little more edge
if you are considering academic for your future. NC State is definitely not
in rural area. Raleigh is not a big city like New York. But Research
Triangle has more PhD employees than any other industrial park in US. UNC
and Duke are close by and it might be able to extend your academic
connection much easier than Maryland. But NC state is a typical engineering
school, with little liberal arts related majors. Univeristy o |

大学牛的老板就是优先考虑的因素。另外钱的事情可以不用考虑过多，基本上都是绰绰
有余，基本上要攒也就能攒那么多。 |
