Electronic Materials and Devices at the University of Alabama. Research
interests of this group includes: ferroelectrics and multiferroics,
ferroelectric photovoltaics, Transparent conducting oxides for PV
applications, magnetic materials, MEMS, sensors, structural health
monitoring.
Currently the positions are available for following two projects:
Job Description 1 : “Structural Health Monitoring”. In this project the
student will assist with manufacture of structural composite test specimens,
testing of these specimens with embedded sensors for damage detection and
perform sensor density analysis.
The ideal candidate will have a back ground in electrical engineering,
familiarity with Matlab, Labview, signal processing. Experience in modeling
is not required but a plus.
Job Description 2: In this project student will use Pulsed laser deposition
to prepare thin films of ferrites, characterize these films using state of
the art characterization facilities, fabricate antennas for UAV applications
and assist in testing of these antennas.
The ideal candidate will have a back ground in materials/ electrical
engineering, familiarity with thin film deposition techniques and
characterizations methods. Students with working knowledge of magnetic
materials and experience with pulse laser deposition would receive
preference.
The candidate is expected to be a reliable, self motivated and a team player
. The assistantship covers a yearly stipend and tuition. These positions may
potentially lead to a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Interested candidates should send their CV to Dr. Sushma Kotru, skotru@eng.
ua.edu. The cover letter should include GRE scores (TOFEL scores if
international) and available date for joining. These positions are available
starting January 2010. |
