use higher dpi. as long as the program is not too old (like nedit, ddd or
old matlab in Linux), it should scale nicely.

just be aware that gen4 x1c removed touch screen compared to gen3.
so, if you can find a brand new gen3 on ebay, go for it. it is probably
cheaper as well.
rumor says in the gen5 x1c, touch screen will return but only for the FHD (
1080p) models.

res touch screen on a Two year old aging laptop? Why wouldnt you recommend
that they go for x1 yoga, if they want a touch screen, just like you did?

a touch screen is useful. it is not useful all the time, but useful

comparing my stolen gen3 x1c (i7-5600U/8G/256G/1440p/touch) and my new x1
yoga (i7-6600U/16G/128G/1440p/touch), they feel just about the same. so from
my perspective, the CPU upgrade from Gen3 to Gen4 is not critical, but the
removal of the touchscreen was a deal killer, and was the only reason that I
went for an x1 yoga.
I recommended x1c gen3 because it has everything I needed if I want to stay
with x1c. x1 yoga is nicer, but costs more.

model during black friday sale. BTW why not aim for the 2017 model with
touch
screen?
