buy Bose 301IV but the audio review sites give it a poor score. Yesterday,
I went to a local audio dealer's place and listened some B&W's.
I first listened a pair of 601S2. I was shocked by the sound at the begining.
I though it's too good to be true. After listening 5 minutes, the dealer came
in and told me he forgot to turn off the subwoofer. Damn it! without sub,
there's toally no low range sound for 601. Then I tried 60 | s**********i

if you just listened something with a sub, you won't be
satisfied with any bookshelf speakers, no matter how
expensive
they are :-) no next week, make sure the dealer turn off
the sub before auditting. and start from cheap model,
hehe
BOSE speakers are not the worst, but they have pretty
bad reputation among hi-fi fans. most people believe
their speakers are highly overpriced.
anothing keep in mind is, the speakers will sound
differently

发帖数: 104 | 3 I think the problem of subwoofer is that:
1) when you use B&W 6xx in a relatively small room (say 15-20 M2) the bass
will be much better than in a big room. Bass consumes more energy and
easily to be absorbed by wall or furniture.
2) Do not rely on subwoofer or some think when listening to music. In my
experience, ears are easily to get accustomed to bass and not long after,
you can not notice the bass. Espeicially after you listening some subwoofer
and turn it off, you will feel

I audited the B&W 601 a couple months ago, and was very
disappointed. The sound was surely quite smooth, the low
was okey but rather muddy, the high was very unimpressive.
The overall sound is very contained. My
comparison is based on auditing Mission 731 and other
bookshelves. I loved Mission and ended up buying a pair for
a lot less(RMB2200) than I would for B&W601 (RMB3800)
B&W is known for their Nautilus -tech speakers, which could
run up to
$10,000, the bookshelves are not

NaiTing:
when you listen to a pair of speaker for more than, say 3 hours, you
may feel upset, then that means this speaker is not NaiTing. Also, if you
listen a pair of speakers for, say 3 month, and at last, you find that you
are more and more disappointed--you can not find out the sound you want, then
the speaker is not Naiting. That is normally because the speakers is not
balanced, so you will be attacted by certain char, say the bass, but when your
