How did you guys solve this probelm, just count manually? Please, please
please reply, even it is a simply 'Yes' (means count manually)

think CIS take citation numbers THAT seriously.
2, Go through each citing paper and look for any name you recognize, and
count that one out.
3, Use "Exclude" function of ISI website. | g****x

in ISI, for the citing papers for each of your paper, you can select all the
other authors in Refine Results
In Scopus, I believe you can chosee "Exclude" function.
In google, I think you have to count by yourself.

I prefer the 'total citation'. But according to some poster here. The CIS
only interested in 'independent citations'. Sounds it is not true?
I provided the total citations to my lawyer, but she described as ' xxx
independent citations' and 'these researchers never know' me. So, i am
worried.
Do i need to change the petition letter or porovide the 'independent
citations'

发帖数: 407 | 6 From your lawyer's words, I guess your 'total citation' is not that
fabulous... making it truly "independent" would not help you either.
So, might as well take a risk. If it's indeed high, your "independent"
number is almost certainly good too. In either case, like I said, I
don't believe CIS people have the time to go through every citing
paper you listed.
Overall, it's a comprise between risk and gain you have to make.
It's only you can decide if your lawyer's practice is good and acceptable.
