Time line:
NIW (I140 and 485) July, 2007; I140 approved in Nov, 2008.
EB1b Nov, 2010, and approved July 1st, 2011.
I started to call USCIS for interlinking my NIW-based 485 to the newly
approved EB1b on July 15, and since called once every other week. In the
first week of Aug, the officer started a service request and expedited my
case. On Aug 26, 485 got approved. Now I am waiting for the card production.
Background: Bio. ap in a small uni with a small grant. a couple of 1st-
author paper. ~180 citations, reviewed ~10 manuscripts from multiple
journals, small awards from several regional meetings in the US. Claimed:
contribution, award, review. 6 recom letters from someone I know well, and 3
were from my school, and 3 were from outside the school.
I wrote the petition letter and the letters of recom following sample
letters posted here, and got a native to correct grammar mistakes. No
lawyers for both NIW and EB1b, even though my school ISO director insisted
to recommend a lawyer to me---on my own cost!
