ABSTRACT:
The possibility of using newly synthesize N,N?-bis(4-hydroxybenzaldehyde)-1
,2-cyclohexan diimine (4-HBC) Schiff base as a corrosion inhibitor of API 5L
steel in 1 M HCl solution was investigated by polarization curves, AC
impedance measurements, current transient and SEM and AFM techniques. It
was shown that the inhibition effectiveness increases with an increase in
the concentration of 4-HBC and a decrease in the temperature. The inhibiting
effect of the investigated Schiff base is due to its adsorption on the
surface of the steel. Adsorption is described by a Langmuir isotherm.the
thermodynamic parameters of the corrosion process were calculated. | l*******e
