emergency cash do you think is adequate in this financial crisis? 6 months?
12 months? 24 months? 36 months? 48 months?
I'm asking this because people are saying that the more the merrier. But my
counter argument is that this is probably the worst finanical crisis in our
life time. If you don't feel a tiny bit of liquidity crunch right now, isn't
your investment too conservative? Look at Buffett, he sold JNJ etc to keep

Fvck those banks. No deposit.
"The FDIC last week approved a one-time mergency fee and other assessment
increases on the industry to rebuild a fund to repay customers for deposits
of as much as $250,000 when a bank fails. The fees, opposed by the industry,
may generate $27 billion this year after the fund fell to $18.9 billion in
the fourth quarter from $34.6 billion in the previous period, the FDIC said.
The fund was drained by 25 bank failures last year.

IRA contribution.
No debt no job: 12 months. If still no job, go back to China or 打黑工
to keep positive cash flow。
With debt with job: you should already have enough emergency cash
at hand. If not, start to eat rice and beans only.
With debt no job: bankrupt directly, or max out all credit cards and
flee to China.

benefit. Giving people to much emergency cash will slow down their pace of
finding another job. For most Americans, if you give them 24 months of
emergency cash, they will goto Cancun the next morning.

美国这边虽然没有三姑六姨,不是现在都流行问政府要钱么? 我觉得24+个月的现金,给
的是错误的安全感. 你想,如果受过高等教育身份没有问题的能吃苦耐劳的中国人都两
年以上找不到工作花光了钱. 老美呢? 还不在你现金花到一半的时候到你家拿着枪把另
一半给抢了?

请问您存的是什么币种? 金条? 欧元? 加拿大元? 我总觉得担心美国银行倒闭,但是手
里还拿着美金现钞是一种很矛盾的行为.

Therefore, in the following case I can just comfortably cash out my Roth
IRA (or from somewhere else) and pay off all my credit card debt.
But it's indeed bad after that, if my networth is near zero.
