matter if it's on paper or has been realized.
Selling covered calls cannot change anything except maybe make
yourself feel a little better. It will introduce new risk/reward
characters into your portfolio. If you understand it and really
want it, then go ahead.
But if you think that can lower your cost without any new risk
involved, I can tell you it doesn't work that way and will never
work that way.
