因为529是父母的资产, 所以会有大约5%左右的影响, 你会多付出1600学费.
但是, 你享受的税的好处有起码5000, far more than the impact on tuition.

申请奖学金，529是要披露的，很多情况下把应得的奖减529完事，不是说5%的影响就只
占5%，家庭年收入没上15W以上，或者资产不到1M的没必要开529，529本身的初衷是富
人游说的结果，人家上学都不指望能拿奖
中产如果不是偏上的也没必要

"应得的奖" - there is no guarantee without 529 a child will have FREE money,
actually most of times it will be financial aid that has to be paid back.
"孩子上学前把钱全藏起来" - if you can find a place to do it while still let
your money make a reasonable return (e.g. move money to China), by all means
, do it. However, I haven't seen a place in USA you can do it without
incurring a cost which only enrich those sales people who push such products.
In the end, you need to take care of your own retirement fund saving first,

休计划是对的,剩下的钱如果有地方应该是考虑买房或者保守投资,而不是放什么529,十
几年后如果你有钱了,也不在乎529那点,如果你没钱,还是有很多地方可以临时把银行存
款和各种资产藏起来.帐面上只有工资收入,AGI不高拿AID没问题

The gain part is you increase your child's chance to get financial aid by
hiding the money.
The loss part is you give up some of the earning power of your hidden money
(yes, you can still get your money back after 4 or more years, with some

4 or more years? don't miss lead ppl here, hiding money meaning temporary
hide, at most 4 month. When your kids apply for financial aid, you need to
disclose all of your assets, at that time you can hide money for 1 month.
you may need to do that each year
one of my friends their family income is 200K+, each year the father hide
all of their money, only left income and house when his kid apply for
financial aid, and still get 10K/y
