发帖数: 3417 | 4 This doesn't mean anything. Recruiters will always say they are hiring
unless the company makes some public announcement saying otherwise. It is
what they are paid for to bring in as many viable candidates as possible for
interviews, especially for a company like google, where the hiring process
is isolated from specific groups and even positions. Recruiters make the
decision for who gets the phone interview, an engineer who might not
even meet you ever decides whether you'll get the onsite, and a mix group of people who most likely don't know what group you'll join provides the feedback for the onsite, then finally the hiring committee decides whether they want to bring you on board. All through the process, only the hiring committee need make sure that a position is indeed available. The rest are just doing their share of some routine work.
This kind of process works well when google was very focused on search. Now google is in all kinds of sofware business and there will be lots of information mismatch along the chain.
What really matters is whether it affects your chance of being accepted, and sadly except for someone in the hiring committee, it is very difficult to
estimate that. However, I guess it never hurts to try and see what happens.
