Global hedge fund is looking to bring on board a trading system engineer for
their Singapore office- emphasis on strong Perl, Linux Basics, Bash script,
MySQL
Background
The firm is regarded globally as one of the biggest hedge funds in the world
- with offices spanning the US, UK, Asia, Russia and Israel. They are
currently looking to expand their Asia presence with the addition of a
trading system Engineer for their Singapore office. This role will be very
hands on and offers the opportunity for a senior Perl developer to come on
board in a front office environment working closely with the traders in IT
support and development. This offers the right person the opportunity to
learn firsthand what a trading environment is like and eventually begin
contributing to research and trading yourself.
Responsibilities
The role will be a mixture of support and development. 70% of the time will
be monitoring various trading applications, troubleshooting trades and
market related issues while 30% of the time will be spent on development.
You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of real time
trading systems and real time trading data related to the markets. Working
closely with the traders you will be working on client flow, dealing with
any trading issues that may arise and monitoring the groups PNL. You must be
interested in technology and be motivated by working in a fast paced and
challenging environment.
Technological proficiency across Perl is a must (as are other scripting
languages). In addition experience across Linux and Python is also very
valuable. The firm is keen to speak to candidates that have also had
exposure to C/C++, common algorithms, data structures and object orientated
design. It is quite rare to find such an opportunity to play a crucial role
in a global firm and working in a front office environment with senior
traders.
Profile
At least 3 years development experience across Perl, Python, C++, Linux
Basics, Shell script, MySQL.
Strong background in IT support and development from a leading bank or hedge
fund
Motivated by technology within a real time environment
Looking to work in a fast paced front office atmosphere.
Strong academics are desirable.
