RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be responsible for the electrical architecture and design of
sophisticated respiratory care medical equipment. Your design work will
include embedded systems, CPU boards, FPGA and PLD VHDL coding, USB,
Ethernet, LVDS & LCD Drivers, interfacing to DACs, ADCs, and PWM motor
drives, closed loop control systems, EMC strategies, etc. You will
participate in design challenges from the ‘paper-is-white’ concept design
phase through line-down production failure investigations. Responsible for
all aspects of design documentation including requirements specification,
engineering analysis, schematic capture, test plans/procedures, validation,
the release of circuit boards and products to production, and production
start-up support.

The successful candidate will:
• Create robust, reliable electrical board / system designs for
critical care medical (respiratory care) equipment with complex
electromechanical, electro-pneumatic, user interface, patient-response
control, and fault tolerance requirements.
• Develop and document designs in compliance with Quality System
requirements.
• Integrate new technology, techniques, and concepts to enhance
functionality, simplify designs, improve reliability, and reduce production
costs.
• Work with Manufacturing Engineering and contract manufacturers to
plan and execute Design for Manufacturability and Design for Testability
activities

EDUCATION
This position requires a minimum of a BS in Electrical Engineering from an
accredited university.
EXPERIENCE:
The successful candidate will have:
• 5+ years of experience in electrical design, with demonstrated
success carrying projects through to a robust, verified, producible design
and volume production
• 5+ years of experience developing 16 & 32-bit micro-processor/
controller based systems
• 5+ years of experience designing mixed signal PCBs
• 5+ years of experience FPGA development experience, preferably with
VHDL
• Strong experience with design for test/built-in test, worst case
analysis, timing analysis, etc.
• Must be proficient with CAE tools such as Spice, Schematic Capture
as well as experienced with Layout tools
• Previous design experience in a regulated environment (i.e. Medical
products) or under a formal product development process
OTHER DESIRED EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
• Digital Signal Processing, touch-screen LCD display interfaces and
control circuitry
• Experience developing DSP systems on FPGAs highly desirable
• EMC compliant circuit and circuit board design.
• EMC troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience designing controllers & drivers for brushless DC motors,
solenoids and other electromechanical devices
• Power Supply, Battery Management, Analog Circuitry
• Electro-mechanical design.
• Experience developing Electronic Medical equipment/products
• Experience managing development projects and/or engineering groups/
teams
• Experience interacting directly with suppliers, operation/
manufacturing services, and engineering support services.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position primarily requires sitting, standing, and walking. Also
requires lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. Must have fine manipulation and
grasping skills, as well as the ability to reach, twist, and bend on an
occasional to frequent basis. Must be able to work with common lab tools and
perform routine soldering of electronic components. Must be able to travel
