Embedded Ethernet Switching Software Applications Engineer
Summary:
Senior Embedded Software Applications Engineer responsible for customer
design support and consultation on Broadcom Ethernet Switch, Phy, and
Processor products. This job can be based anywhere in the continental US.
SanDiego or Boston would be first choice but any city is acceptable.
The job involves:
• Working directly with internal and customer engineering to
understand their objectives and requirements
• Assisting customers with high-level system architectures
incorporating Broadcom products
• Work with Broadcom marketing and engineering
• Working with Broadcom’s SDK in an embedded Linux or VxWorks
environment
• Customizing and supporting customer Ethernet switching
applications
• Assisting customers in their labs and remotely with the use of
Broadcom supplied development tools, drivers, and software
• Assisting customers in their technical evaluation of Broadcom
products
• Giving technical presentations and demos
Required Skills:
• Embedded Linux expertise, with kernel mode driver experience –
especially with networking and streaming interfaces
• Solid understanding of networking protocols related to Ethernet
Switching
• Solid understanding of networking devices including Embedded CPUs
/SOCs, Ethernet controllers and switches
• Good verbal, written, and presentation skills
Desired Skills:
• Experience working with Broadcom’s switching SDK
• Direct experience with network switching applications
• Understanding of, and experience with high-speed interfaces such
as XAUI, HiGig, SGMII, PCIe, and DDRx
• Experience working with Broadcom or similar products(Vitesse or
Marvell )
• Experience with direct customer engagements
