1st job: very technical. core technology, good enough visibility.
2nd job: not technical, entry level project manager job. extremely high
visbility,no direct report , but handle conflicts in between groups, pay a
little bit better than 1st job. No promise on advancement afterward.
thought:
My friend has done 1st jobs for years. very easy for him. but it does not
develop him into management material. ( honestly, it is still so.) He would
always be in the ground level.
the 2nd job depends on his communication skills. He has Ok communication
skills. but not like politician.this job would kind of force him to
communicate even more , potentially develop him to the management material.
but he is afraid that if he did not do good enough , he would get fired.
which one would you pick? |
