This is long story, however it’s haunting me. I feel ashamed to talk with
psychiatrist or counselor about it. I don’t know what I’m feeling. I need
peace. Please help me overcome.
sequence of events for background
Event-1
I joined the company as senior software engineer just before covid as I didn
’t had better options at that moment. I knew I didn’t grow much unless I
play dirty.
Event-2
In the middle of pandemic, we interviewed a guy, he was very smart and
cleared all the interview, he had same experience level as mine and honestly
felt that he was overqualified for the job or smarter than me.
I had mixed feelings about him, one thought was to hire him because I needed
to offload my work to someone and another feeling was that he will outpace
me and become more senior than me. In this mixed feelings, I found out from
his linkedin profile and other sources from his previous company that he was
laid off due to pandemic and he was struggling with his visas. So, I
downleveled his offer so that he would always behind me.
Event-3
Initially he was taking approval from me for everything however after 6-8
months, he started to outpaced me and his performance was visible across the
teams. That time his H1B was also picked up and he reached out to me and
director for premium processing and for promotion. But I recommended for
premium only and not for promotion.
Event-4
During that timeframe, I wanted to visit my home country for my marriage as
it was get delayed due to covid, I asked my director but he approved for 1
month only, I pushed for 2 months then director ask me to get confirmation
from him that he will handle everything for 2 months in my absence. he
agreed and I simply throw everything to him and went away for 2 months for
marriage and relaxation.
Event-5
When I returned, I was surprised. He almost took everything under his
control. I felt jealous and thought things might go out of my hand. I
immediately pushed my director for my green card and promotion. (Used great
resignation era as a leverage). Both are approved for me as I have good repo
in the org.
Event-6
My director changed the reporting structure and now that guy has to report
to me. First time I became official manager of someone.
Event-7
In some weeks, his petition was approved and he got appointment for stamping
date from his country after some months. So he requested for 2.5 months to
WFHome country along with some PTO as he wanted to get married as well and
relaxed to have good mental health (i think he was anxious about his
marriage and in general).
Event-8
I was married at that time, so didn’t wanted to spoil my honeymoon period.
I used my director’s name and company policy excuse that you can work only
30 days outside US on H1B to reject his request. I wished i won’t have
misused my power at that time or better backup strategy.
Event-9
He also faked at that time and agreed to 30 days trip (which was 3 month
from the agreement day). However he travelled to his country in 2-3 weeks
after our conversation without informing and continue to work until i come
to know from his login activities on the server. I guess he used some proxy
servers for some days and then missed sometime. I never confronted that I
know about his location.
Event-10
I got furious. I didn’t inform my director. Instead I planned to little f*
him with mind game. Our usual work pattern was to have 1/1.5 hr early
morning meetings and then everybody works on their own. Instead, I moved
meetings to time which could potentially in awkward time window as per his
country. I guess in the middle of the night. He also played well and didn’t
gave any hint except his server logs.
Sometimes i just intentionally broke things in production in the middle of
his night (there were already tons of issues so no one understood what’s
the actual root cause and for my director I’m the who resolves everything).
I was waiting for him to sleep one day and use that moment to bring my
director in the picture. That happened. He missed one day and we called him
couple of times on his phone as a evidence to put him under the official PIP.
Event-11
There was planned 1:1 just before his marriage week and I surprised him with
official email of PIP, improve in 60 days or get fired while in his home
country. I don’t know why I became devil at that time.
Event-12
He cut his PTO to half and started working in 1 week of his marriage and
return to US in approx 1 month from official pip start. Felt like king and
he started to act like he is my reportee.
Event-13
After few weeks of PIP completion, he asked if I could start his green card
process and also for promotion which my director promised him 6-8 months
back. I discarded both saying it will take 3 Month’s cooling time after PIP
for promotion and green card (my policy, didn’t even discussed with
director or HR)
Event-14
We hired recent college graduate kid and asked him to train. He started
training the new kid and all of sudden, something happened and he took the
control of the meeting and behaved like he is my manager and insulated me in
front of everyone. We had heated arguments and he escalated to my director
and VP.
Event-15
I immediately scheduled meeting with my director, HR and I almost had
complete hate for him on that day, so i wanted to kick him in his ass. We
gave him 2 options of either we fire him immediately or we sign mutual
separation agreement from the 15 days with no severance. He signed and
walked away. I told that behavior to everyone that used to work with him.
I felt like I won for months by kicking him out and thought he will have to
return back to his country. I kept checking his linkedin and enjoyed how he
is struggling. After sometime, i didn’t find his linkedin profile visible.
I tried from my another linkedin account and come to know he became staff
engineer at FANGMULA++ or whatever brand.
From that moment everything changed to me.
I’m really pissed off with myself. Not able to get proper sleep now. I feel
like we both played dirty and I’m stuck with pending green card and he
moved much higher. How to overcome this feelings. One thought is to
apologize him but my ego is stopping me. And I had feeling that he will
abuse me if i call him even for apology. I don’t know why and when I became
such person.

?他们会因为别人去了高薪公司就睡不着觉?不过看行事方式,垃圾应该是男阿三。

英文表达方式不像是老中,应该是烙印
被pip的不确定,可能是老中可能也是烙印

确实,这英文叙述挺好的,大部分老中包括我,写不了这么流畅。
确实像烙印pip老中
