opening for a program coordinator position.
Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The MCI Program Coordinator has primary responsibility for the details of
all MCI training programs including the design, development, and daily
management of all training schedules, outreach to program providers,
including university and outside experts, managing contracting and paperwork
for program providers, securing classrooms and technology for all training
sessions, scheduling of interpreters, and oversight of the work of program
assistants. The Program Coordinator participates in all program planning and
strategic sessions at MCI and frequently represents MCI and the University
of Maryland at off-site and on-site programs. The Program Coordinator is a
member of the MCI planning team that determines goals and themes for each
training program. Once goals are set, the Program Coordinator takes the lead
in designing detailed schedules, revising them with Chinese clients, and
implementing them by making contact with UM colleges, departments, and
faculty and with outside stakeholders. The Program Coordinator is the
primary point of contact to work with IIP staff to address questions on
program logistics and individual group finances.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree is required, Master's preferred. A minimum of two years
experience in international program administration required. Strong working
knowledge of Chinese and American cultural norms and professional standards
required. Ability to travel domestically with Chinese groups on both day,
and overnight, visits required. A deep working knowledge of American
institutional norms, and strong written and oral English-language
communications skills are required
Preferences:
A background in U.S.-China relations is strongly preferred. Prior
professional work with logistical program details strongly preferred.
Background in international studies or other social sciences is preferred.
Written and oral communications skills in Mandarin Chinese are preferred.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Project
preferred. The Program Coordinator must be comfortable interacting with
Chinese and American faculty members, political leaders, executives, and
university leaders as a peer.

Salary: Low to Mid $40s
