The Photonics Research Group in the Electrical Engineering Department
at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee seeks applications for the
position of Postdoctoral Research Associate working in the research group
of Arash Mafi.
This position starts in September 2012 and can continue for two years.
Successful candidates will have a strong background in theoretical and
numerical analysis of photonics structures. This position affords a unique
opportunity for a scientist who wants to tackle some of the outstanding
current challenges in nonlinear optics and/or fiber lasers.
Responsibilities:
Perform research in one or a combination of the areas of
>General nonlinear fiber optics.
>Ultrafast nonlinear optics.
>Optical fiber laser simulation and design.
>Perform independent studies in assigned research area.
Qualifications:
>PhD in Theoretical Physics, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or
a related field.
>Strong analytical background.
>Strong electromagnetics background.
>Effective writing skills for publication of articles in scientific research
journals.
>Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively in a team research
environment.
>Effective communication skills.
