The Position Principal/Consulting Software Engineer
Position Summary
Reporting to the head of the storage team, the Principal/Consulting Software
Engineer will play a pivotal role in the architecture, design and
development of a log structured middleware file system.
Major Responsibilities
• Participate in the architecture, design and development of
middleware file system
• Deliver robust, fault tolerant, production code - this is a hands
on coding position.
• Interact with members of the team to enhance the Pivotal HD
Hadoop vision.
Experience & Skill Set
The ideal candidate will have recent, demonstrated experience delivering
robust, reliable linux systems software in mission critical enterprise
environments.
Deep, meaningful, recent development experience with most of the following
is required;
• Log structured file systems
• Virtual file systems
• Working knowledge of the parallel log structured file system [
PLFS] code base
• A deep understanding of resilient concurrent programming
• Linux systems code development in c/c++
Optional, but highly desirable skill sets;
• Familiarity with Hadoop HDFS
• Copy-on-write snapshots
• Extremely large scale application development
• Cloud computing and storage
Educational Background
This position requires a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer
Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Advance degrees preferred.

Foundry Application Engineer
Location : Shanghai
Job Responsibilities:
Foundry Application Engineer is responsible for Design Support, Technology,
Model, ESD and Design Kit consultation, and Technical Training for IBM's
Specialty Foundry customers engaged in designing Digital/Analog/RF and Mixed
-Signal integrated circuits in IBM's state-of-the-art RF CMOS, SiGe BiCMOS
and CMOS technologies. This growing team in China is supported by a highly
skilled team with diverse and extensive backgrounds and areas of expertise
in the US.
This position offers ample direct customer interaction to apply circuit
design, modeling, silicon processing, DFM, or design tool experience.
Problem identifying, debugging and solving skill is required. Knowledge and
experience with circuit physical design and verification, and/or SiGe or
CMOS process/technology is highly desirable. Prior experience with industry
standard IC design tools and design flows, such as Cadence, Mentor and
Synopsys tools and flows is a plus, as these are an integral part of the job
. Ability to represent IBM in a direct customer contact role is essential.
English fluency is required, and other language skills (Japanese, Korean,
etc.) are a plus.
Job Requirements:
1. Master/Ph.D with EE, Microelectronics or Computer Engineering related
background.
2. Industry experience (1-2 years as entry level, more is preferable) in
related analog/digital circuit design, semiconductor technology/process
development or CAD/Industry Design Tools Application areas.
3. Good Knowledge in one or more of the following semiconductor industry
related fields:
- Advanced Semiconductor Technology/Processing/Modeling: SiGe, Bulk CMOS,
BiCMOS, SOI or technologies.
- High Performance RF/Analog, Digital/SOC Custom and Mixed-Signal Circuit
design, simulation, verification, testing and evaluation.
- CAD/Industry Design Tools Development or Application experience.
- Electrostatic Discharges (ESD) protection design.
4. Knowledge/Experience in one or more of the following application domains,
will be a plus:
- Communication and wireless applications
- Digital media, audio/video applications
- Consumer electronics applications
- Automotive electronics applications
- Other emerging technology and industry areas
5. English fluent, Good communication/Problem Solving skill and willingness
to work within a global team.
6. Good learning competency, self-motivation, and be able to work on diverse
areas in a flexible environment.
7. Strong technical leadership will be important consideration for senior

Consultant/Principal/Senior Software Engineer – Hadoop Developer
Job Responsibilities
• Design and develop products deployed on top of and integrate with
Apache Hadoop EcoSystem. Build and grow talent in Hadoop EcoSystem and
distributed computation areas.
• Design, create and manage development and test cluster
infrastructure for Hadoop stack. Help the team to automate the build,
continues integration and releasing engineering
• Create, develop software packaging under Linux, release
validation, build tools and maintain backend infrastructure
• Work closely with development, test engineering, build and
release engineering team to prioritize and deliver new versions of our
products.
Requirements
• Bachelor/Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent from a
reputable university
• Excellent Communication, Collaboration, Reporting, Analytic and
Problem solving skills.
• Customer-focused, ability to triage issues, react well to changes
, work with teams and being able to multi-task on multiple products and
projects.
• Self-starter, team player, highly organized, infrastructure and
process-oriented
• 3+/5+/8+years of extensive experience in Java, Perl, Python, and/
or shell scripting with hands-on experience in advanced Linux/Unix system
and server clusters management
• Must have strong knowledge in Linux software packaging(rpm/.
debian) and hands-on Linux system management experiences
• Must have experience or working knowledge of C++ or Java
• Build, SCM and release engineering exposure with Maven, Ant,
Subversion, Git, etc in an Agile software development team.
• Experience with agile/Test driven development is a big plus
• Development/deployment experience of Apache Hadoop, Hive, HBase,
Pig is a big plus
• Experiences of VMware in a lab for software development is a big
plus
• Excellent communication skills in both Chinese and English.
