Job description
As the SQL server/NoSQL Administrator, you will work closely with the IT
team to ensure high availability and high performance of our analytic
servers and other applications. You will have the opportunity to support
Data Scientists by providing an optimal analytic infrastructure for our Big
Data processing.
Responsibilities
Install, maintain, tune and upgrade SQL Server environments.
Analyze SQL Server relational and storage engine issues and provide
appropriate solutions.
Install, upgrade, configure, and tune NoSQL technologies (Mongo,
Casandra).
Automate deployment and tasks through scripting technologies.
Implement monitoring solutions for database environments.
Manage database backup and recovery processes.
Provide after-hours support on a scheduled basis.
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience
5 to 7 years’ experience as a SQL Server DBA.
Minimum 5+ years of experience working with large distributed database
systems with focus on performance & tuning.
Experience working with Big Data and Very Large Databases.
Strong NoSQL Data Modeling experience (Conceptual, General and Hierarchy
techniques).
Ability to write and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts.
Experience simplifying complex TSQL solutions.
Knowledge on how to troubleshoot relational and storage engine
performance issues.
Past experience performing data conversion and Server Migrations.
Working with SQL Server High Availability solutions.
Required Skills
SQL Server Installation and Configuration.
TSQL Performance troubleshooting.
Deep knowledge of DB performance/scaling concepts and tuning best
practices.
Experience with scaling across data centers.
Experience with Vertical, Horizontal and Functional partitioning
strategies.
Experience with the Atlassian Software Development and Collaboration
Tools (Jira, Confluence).
Prior experience in a growth company developing commercial SaaS
applications.
Strong team player with excellent written and verbal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment with a broad
scope of responsibilities.
Ability to work seamlessly as part of a multi-site, multicultural
development team.
Self-motivated, passionate about software, and driven to achieve
committed milestones.
The following skills would be a plus
Hadoop installation, configuration and tuning.
Experience with Log Shipping technologies such as litespeed.
SQL Server Reporting Administration and Report writing.
Administering SQL Server in a virtual and or SAS environment.
SSIS experience. |
